Particularly popular in Guadalajara, the arbol chili pepper's scorching but pure strength is ideal for making spicy broths or fiery hot sauces.
Lightly toast the árbol chili to release its flavor. First wipe and remove the stems. Fry it briefly in a dry pan over medium heat until fragrant, then mix it into your favorite hot sauce or salsa recipe. Alternatively, for a more subtle heat, add whole or crushed árbol chiles directly to cooking and remove before eating. Always wash your hands after handling the chili!
